The number field accepts numeric input either as an integer or decimal depending on the chosen format.

Decimal places
If you select the decimal number format, use this property to set the number of decimal places allowed. New decimal fields default to 2.
To limit authors to one decimal place, set Decimal places to 1. Authors can then enter values such as 2.1 or 55.6.
The field doesn't reject extra digits. If an author types more decimal places than you've allowed, the value is rounded to the set number, so 2.16 becomes 2.2. When the author leaves the field, it also pads the value to the full number of places, so 5 is shown as 5.0.
If you need a whole number, use the integer format instead.
Currency editor
The number field has a second editor option called Currency, available for decimal fields on entry and component content types. It is not available on forms. Choose it from the Field editor list instead of the default Decimal editor to display a currency symbol beside the field and format the entered value with grouping commas and a decimal point.
Currency symbol
Sets the currency symbol displayed beside the field: $ Dollar, £ Pound, € Euro, ¥ Yen, or ₹ Rupee. Dollar is selected by default.
The stored value remains a decimal number and does not include the symbol or an ISO currency code.
