Content review statuses and reviewers explained

The content review panel in the entry editor shows the review status of an entry and allows you to manage reviewers and review requests in one place.
You can use the panel to:
- see the current review status
- view review dates
- check or change the assigned reviewer
- request or manage reviews
Before you start
You must have permission to edit or review content entries to interact with review features.
Some review information only appears if content reviews are enabled for the content type.
When to use the content review panel
Use the content review panel when you need to:
- check whether an entry has been reviewed
- see when the next review is due
- assign or change a reviewer
- request or manage a content review
Open the Content review panel
To access the Content review panel:
- Open an entry in the editor.
- Select Content review in the vertical toolbar.
The panel displays review information for the entry.
Close the content review panel
To close the Content review panel, select Close in the panel header.

When the panel opens, you may see:
- Review status
- Last reviewed
- Last reviewed by
- Next review due
- Assigned reviewer
- Available reviewers
Some fields may vary depending on the entry’s state and review configuration.
Review status
The Review status field shows the current review state for the entry.
Common statuses include:
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Never reviewed | The entry has not yet been through a content review. |
| Review in progress | A reviewer has started reviewing the entry. |
| Reviewed | The entry has passed review. |
| Recently reviewed | The entry was reviewed within the recent review window (for example, the last 30 days). |
| Changes since last review | The entry has been updated since its last review and the changes have not yet been published. |
| Review requested | A user has requested a review. |
| Needs attention | The reviewer has failed the review and changes are required. |
| Review cancelled | A review was started but cancelled. |
Publishing updates after a review will mark the entry as reviewed.
Review summary cards
The panel may show additional summary information when a review has been:
- Requested – showing the request message and request date
- Failed – showing the reviewer’s feedback
- Cancelled – showing the reason the review was cancelled
These cards help editors understand why a review was requested or failed.
Next review due
The Next review due field shows when the next review must be completed.
What appears depends on the entry and content type configuration.
If the entry is published and the content type has a review schedule:
- A Next review due date is displayed (for example, 22 November 2025).
If the entry is not yet published:
- Review information may still appear.
- A Next review due date is not displayed.
If the entry is published but the content type has no review schedule:
- A next review date is not displayed.
When a review is passed or failed, the next review date is recalculated based on the review schedule.
Assigned reviewer
The Assigned reviewer field shows who is responsible for reviewing the entry.
You may see:
- Unassigned – meaning the entry has no reviewer yet
- the name and avatar of the assigned reviewer
If you have permission, select Edit to change the assigned reviewer.
This opens the Assign reviewer window where you can choose another reviewer.
Available reviewers
The Available reviewers section shows users who can review the entry.
In the panel you will see:
- a stack of avatars representing reviewers
- a
+{x}indicator if more reviewers are available than can be shown
Selecting this section displays the full list of reviewers available for the entry.
