Assigning a reviewer makes it clear who is responsible for checking an entry.

You can assign or change a reviewer at any time and optionally include a message explaining the reassignment.

Before you start

You must be a reviewer or a System administrator to assign reviewers for content entries.

When to assign a reviewer

Assign a reviewer when:

  • An entry needs expert review.
  • Responsibility for reviewing content needs to be clearly defined.
  • A review request has been made but no reviewer is assigned.
  • The current reviewer needs to be changed.

View current and available reviewers

To view the currently assigned reviewer and any available reviewers:

  1. Open the entry in the editor.
  2. Open the Content review panel.

In the Reviewers section of the panel, you will see:

Assigned reviewer

  • If a reviewer has been assigned, the reviewer’s name and avatar will be displayed.
  • If no reviewer has been set, an Unassigned status will be displayed.

Available reviewers

  • A row or stack of avatars shows all users who can review the entry.
  • If more reviewers exist than can be shown, a +{x} indicator will indicate how many more reviewers are available.

Assign or change a reviewer

To assign a reviewer, or change the assigned reviewer:

  1. Open the Content review panel.
  2. Select Assign reviewer or Edit reviewer.
  3. The Assign a reviewer window opens.
  4. Open the Assign reviewer dropdown.
  5. Select the user you want to assign.
  6. (Optional) Enter a message explaining the assignment.
  7. Select Assign reviewer.

Add a message for the reviewer

You can include a message to explain why the reviewer has been assigned or what they should focus on.

For example:

  • “You’re closest to the latest API changes.”
  • “Please check the accessibility section.”

What happens after assigning a reviewer

After you assign a reviewer:

  • The content review panel updates to show the reviewer’s name and avatar.
  • The reviewer becomes responsible for reviewing the entry.
  • Depending on system configuration, the reviewer may receive an email notification.
