What is the manifest in Contensis personalisation?
Log in to add to favouritesIn Contensis personalisation, the Manifest acts as the master record of your site’s personalisation setup. It defines the structure of your audiences, signals, and custom attributes, and controls when these configurations are published to your live site.
The Manifest ensures your personalisation logic is consistent, version-controlled, and easy to manage.
What is a Manifest?
A Manifest is a version-controlled blueprint of your personalisation configuration. It captures:
- All audiences and their rules
- All signals and their conditions
- Any custom attributes you have defined
Changes to audiences, signals, or attributes are reflected in the Manifest, but they do not affect the live site until the Manifest is published. This allows teams to work on personalisation logic safely, review changes, and coordinate updates without impacting visitors until everything is ready.
What can you do on the Manifest screen?
On the Manifest screen, you can:
- View the change log:Â See a detailed list of changes made to the Manifest over time. This helps you track who updated what and when, supporting accountability and making it easier to troubleshoot issues.
- Compare the latest and published versions: Quickly spot differences between your current working version and what is live. This is useful for reviewing updates before publishing, so you can check for errors or unintended changes.
- Publish changes to the Manifest: Once you are happy with your updates, you can publish the Manifest. Publishing applies your new personalisation logic to the live site, so visitors experience the latest setup.
Why is the Manifest important?
The Manifest provides:
- Control: Your personalisation logic only updates when you are ready.
- Transparency: Your team has a clear record of changes to review.
- Safety: You can check and approve updates before they go live.
