Image size validation
Log in to add to favouritesImage size dimensions ensures that the images that you use in an entry meet the requirements of your content model. These are defined by a width constraint, a height constraint, or a combination of both. The constraints will affect if an image can be saved when uploading inline, which images are avaliable in the asset gallery and how an image can be cropped by your authors.
How to set image dimensions
With a content type open for editing:
- Select the image field you want to set image dimensions for and select the Editor tab from the Field Settings panel.
- Scroll down to Image dimensions and choose whether to set the width, height or both dimensions by turning on the appropriate toggles. Within the dropdowns that are displayed you can choose the following values:
- Minimum allows you to set the minimum pixel value for the selected dimension. For example, Minimum width of 1024px. Images can be larger than the value, but must be able to meet the minimum width.
- Maximum allows you to set the maximum pixel value for the selected dimension. For example, Maximum height of 1080px. Images can be no larger than the value once they are saved. Images greater than the maximum will be automatically scaled by the image field and this will be reflected in the image editor.
- Exact expects the image to meet the exact dimensions when cropped. Images that do not meet the exact dimensions will fail to save. Any images that dont meet the exact requirements will be filtered from the image gallery when choosing an existing asset.
- Select the constraint from the dropdown and specify a pixel value for the image.
- Save the changes to your content type.
