Track a form in a campaign

Tracking a form tells the campaign to count responses to it. You set a target, and the campaign shows you how close you are getting.
You need the Update action on the Campaigns permission, and the campaign must not have ended.
Before you start
A form can only be tracked if it has Capture form submission context switched on. That setting stores the attribution data a campaign needs, so without it there is nothing for the campaign to match against.
Forms created recently have it on already. Forms created before the setting existed do not, and they will not appear in the list until someone switches it on. See Capture form submission context.
Track a form
- Open the campaign and select Add tracking.
- Select Form tracking. The Add form tracking window opens.
- Find your form in the Published forms list on the left. To narrow the list, type into the filter field, which is labelled Filter forms and prompts you to Type part of a form name to start filtering.
- Select the form. Its details appear on the right, replacing No form selected.
- Under Set target, enter the number of responses you are aiming for. It has to be a whole number above zero.
- Under UTM parameters, choose a UTM source (optional) and a UTM medium (optional) if you want to count only responses from a particular channel. Leave them alone to count every response to the form. See UTM sources and mediums.
- Select Add form tracking.
The dialog closes and the form appears as a card in the Tracking section, showing a count of zero against your target.
If your form is not in the list
If nothing matches, you will see:
Two things cause this, and it is worth knowing which you are looking at. Either your filter text does not match any form name, or the form exists but does not have context capture switched on, so it is not offered at all.
If you are certain the form exists and you have spelled it correctly, capture is the likely reason. Open the form's settings, switch on Capture form submission context, and it will appear here.
Tracking one form several times
You can track the same form more than once in a campaign, as long as each entry uses a different combination of source and medium. That is how you compare channels: track a form once for paid search and again for organic social, and each card counts only its own traffic.
What you cannot do is add the same combination twice. If you try, Contensis tells you:
Change the source or the medium and the window will accept it.
If form tracking is unavailable
Form tracking needs the Forms licence. Without it, the Form tracking option in the Add tracking menu will not be available.
