Sustainability statement
This sustainability statement applies to Zengenti and Contensis.
Zengenti is the creator of the Contensis content management system. In our sustainability statement, we've outlined the steps taken by Zengenti that will directly impact Contensis.
A sustainability statement written by Zengenti for Contensis
Everyday actions are taken at Zengenti to stand up for nature and fight climate change. We believe in the power of collective action to protect our planet from climate change for future generations.
We’re taking control of our carbon footprint, committed to making positive changes to reduce our impact on the world we live in.
What we’re doing to be more sustainable
Here, we’re outlining our current initiatives to be a sustainable organisation and what we plan to do in the future.
- Green hosting.
- Biomass heating.
- Clean energy.
- Promoting biodiversity.
- Reducing waste.
- Working from home.
Green hosting
Zengenti and Contensis is part of the Green Web Foundation, which recognises businesses and hosting providers that run off green energy.
As a verified green hosting provider, Zengenti and Contensis have demonstrated the steps taken to avoid, reduce or offset greenhouse gas emissions caused by using electricity to provide our services.
Biomass heating
Our office building in Ludlow, Moor Hall, is heated using biomass energy.
Biomass is a renewable energy source, so it does not contribute to climate change.
The biomass heater is more efficient than traditional fossil-fuel-fired heaters - using less fuel to generate the same amount of heat.
Clean energy
As a company, we strive to make all the electricity we consume at our head office, Moor Hall, 100% renewable.
All of our data centres run using 100% renewable energy. We use EON to supply electricity for our headquarters, which is also 100% renewable.
Promoting biodiversity
Wildlife protection has been the focus of a Zengenti lockdown project for 2023.
Providing places for birds and bees to nest, a safe place for hedgehogs, bird baths and water sources for insects and the introduction of wildflower meadows to make Zengenti HQ a great place to be for our wild neighbours too.
Reducing waste
In 2023, we launched our initiative to reduce waste. As a company, we’re working together to be more mindful of the resources we use.
Waste can mean many things, from leftovers at team lunches to inactive free trial development environments running. We’re doing our bit to be more mindful of the waste we create as a company.
Working from home
The majority of our team continues to work from home, reducing unnecessary daily travel.
Plans for the future
We're committed to making conscious choices.
Below are some of the planned practices we are working on to become even more sustainable as an organisation.
Solar panels
The installation of solar panels at Zengenti HQ will further reduce our need for electricity from the grid, with the opportunity to provide green energy back to the grid for anything we don’t use as an organisation.
Free air cooling
The introduction of free air cooling in our own data centre in Ludlow will keep our systems cool and have a lower impact on the environment.
